The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), an agency of the Ministry of Tourism, is committed to ensuring that industry information is available to its affiliates and the public. The Tourism Information Publishing Site (TIPS) was established to serve as the main source of information on the marketing and development of Jamaica as the premier Caribbean tourist destination.

JTB PARTICIPATES IN INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION (ICAO) CONFERENCE

JTB PARTICIPATES IN INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION (ICAO) CONFERENCE: The Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) recently convened its multi-regional air transport conference in Montego Bay. The event saw the participation of experts from the air transport industry and civil aviation authorizes from North America, the Caribbean and South America. Among the panelists was Paul Pennicook, Director of Tourism who spoke on the topic ‘Air Transport and Tourism: How to Maximize Synergies.’ His presentation highlighted key matters such as tourism’s dependence on air transport, Jamaica’s Air Policy Committee and Jamaica’s relaxation of visa requirements for selected countries. The aim of the conference is to maximize aviation’s contribution to tourism. With more than half a billion travelling tourists choosing air travel, and more than 60% of Jamaica’s visitors arriving by that mode of transportation, the discussions will be beneficial to Jamaica as the country seeks to continue to increase the number of stopover visitors to the island. The conference was held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre from October 7-9.

Seated from left are: Ms Lorretta Martin, Regional Director ICAO (partially hidden); Mark Hatfield, Regional Director Western Hemisphere, US Dept of Homeland Security; Paul Pennicook, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism: Marc-Andre O'Rourke, Executive Director, National Airlines Council of Canada; Andrew O'Brian, President & CEO Corporación Quiport, S.A Ecuador; Jean-Marc Bourreau, Chief Operations Officer, Director of Aviation IOS Partner Inc. and Christopher Persaud, Transport Specialist, International Development Bank.
